IX Art Park

September 5 - November 6, 2015

The recently opened IX Art Park, an “interactive space for spontaneous dreaming,” provided the ideal environment for the diverse populations involved in Charlottesville’s thriving music scene—University of Virginia students, residents from the neighborhood and music fans from all parts of town—to come together and enjoy a fall of free, live music during the Levitt AMP Music Series surrounded by beautiful green spaces and public art.

Presented by Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia, which serves as the nonprofit board for the University of Virginia.

    Based in Jalisco, Mexico, Agave performs classic and immensely danceable Norteño music.

    Latin jazz/salsa band Conjunto Sason mixes the spicy Caribbean sounds of mambo, cha-cha, cumbia and bachata to invite their listeners to the dance floor.

    Formed in 2014, Charlottesville, Va.'s Smiling Islanders create a naturally danceable mix of rock and funk.

    Described as psychedelic, alternative, jammy, rock, indie and ska, Kendall Street Collective regularly performs in Virginia and throughout the East Coast.

    A seven-piece reggae group, Positive Collective brings uplifting messages of peace, harmony and diversity to its music.

    Born as a duo in 2010, Charlottesville-based band We Are Star Children now boasts six members and an instrumental range that spans across a breadth of musical styles in its own genre of "adventure pop."

    Dark rock and Southern Gothic singer-songwriter Lauren Hoffman uses her music to communicate the human experience, in all of its myriad dark and bright colors, to hearts everywhere.

    Together, The Sally Rose Band plays hauntingly beautiful harmonies that intertwine southern rock, gypsy folk, soul and doo-wop inspired honky-tonk.
