Rock, blues, folk and soul had a baby and they named it Erin. In 2012, during her time as president of the University of Virginia student recording and performance group ORecords, singer/songwriter Erin Lunsford collected three of her most talented friends and dubbed them The Wildfire. With The Wildfire, consisting of guitarist Ryan Lipps, bassist Matt Wood and drummer Nick Quillen, Lunsford creates a unique brand of soul rock that has established the group as one of the premier up-and-coming acts in the vibrant Charlottesville, Va. music scene. The combination of Lunsford’s soulful and striking vocals with The Wildfire’s raw, funk-infused intensity will start a flame in the heart of any listener. This Wildfire continues to spread throughout Central Virginia, along the East Coast and beyond.
Lunsford is an award-winning vocalist, winner of Charlottesville’s Paramount Idol 2013, and an award-winning songwriter, winner of the 11th Annual Rapunzel’s Songwriting Contest. In 2013, Erin & the Wildfire released its debut self-titled EP and the track, "Best I’ve Ever Been" was chosen as one of the best new songs of 2013 by WNRN Radio’s The LocalMotive. This past summer, the band won the Rockn’ to Lockn’ competition and the honor of playing on the final day of the 2014 Lockn’ festival alongside SOJA, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Willie Nelson, Wilco, Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers. Erin & The Wildfire has also performed at the CMJ Conference, The Festy Experience, The Circus Life Festival and Floyd Fest.
Chamomile and Whiskey
After touring the country playing as a duo, Marie Borgman and Koda Kerl returned home to Nelson County, Va. with the idea of forming a full band. After a few experimental shows with different musicians, they found Tim Deibler, Brenning Greenfield and Ryan Lavin; by late winter 2011, Chamomile and Whiskey was formed. With each member bringing a diversity of musical backgrounds, the band produces a unique sound blending rock, mountain funk, Americana, Irish, gypsy and old-time music and plays its cross-genre pollination with a punk ferocity.
Chamomile and Whiskey has a reputation for dynamic live performances, full of rowdy dancing and collaboration. In only its second year, the band opened for J Roddy Walston and the Business, Rusted Root, Railroad Earth and The Hackensaw Boys and played its first headlining show at the Jefferson Theater. The band toured the East Coast for most of 2013 and made debuts in Chicago, Nashville and New Orleans in 2014. Chamomile and Whiskey also recorded a Daytrotter session and made an appearance at The Festy Experience with the Infamous Stringdusters in 2014.
