With his big sound, contagious laugh and genuine love for those who listen, Jared Woods is the type of talent Alaskans proudly show off to friends in the rest of the U.S. but would first consider hoarding for themselves. Frequently chosen in Anchorage listeners' choice competitions, Woods and his band Woodrow are favorites in his home state, playing everywhere from coffee shops to theatre shows sometimes upwards of five times a week.
Woods' music, a blend of rock, acoustic and Americana, was inspired by his time in jazz band and choir at East Anchorage High School. He has released several albums since 2000, most recently 2012's Bonfire. When not performing, he can often be seen around Anchorage driving a red Chevy van or playing acoustic guitar.
